Two years after a devastating blaze ripped via Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris, specialists are analyzing the cathedral’s well-known centuries-old stained-glass home windows forward of their restoration.
Scientists have been engaged on the home windows in a lab based mostly within the former stables of a seventeenth century chateau simply east of Paris.
After the hearth, greater than 2,000 glass panels had been rigorously eliminated for restoration. The harm attributable to the blaze has left traces on the home windows, a few of which date again to the thirteenth century.
Scientists will spend a number of extra months analyzing the glass earlier than the restoration can start.
