The Great Season 3

What to Expect From “The Great Season 3” (All Updates)

When can we expect the third season of The Great to air? TV fans have fallen in love with the acclaimed “anti-historical” series partly based on Catherine the Great, Russia’s longest-reigning female monarch, since 2020. We’ve laughed, we’ve wept, and we’ve been left on the edge of our seats thanks to the show’s several cliffhangers throughout its two seasons.

The Great is brimming with intrigue, from double-crossing and court tension to all-out civil war in the golden palace. As a result, the anticipation for the series’ upcoming part is palpable among fans. Season 3 of The Great has already been confirmed, which is great news. Yes, it’s time to dust off those powdered wigs because Elle Fanning and Nicholas Hoult are returning as Catherine and Peter III, respectively. But you may ask what the royals plan to do in the upcoming season of the popular show? Or perhaps you’re wondering, when and where will I be able to watch it?

To that end, we at The Digital Fix are here to assist you. All the gossip from Catherine’s court has been gathered and we are ready to spill the beans. Everything you need to know about The Great’s upcoming third season is here in one place: release date, cast, trailer, and more.

The Great Season 3 Plot: What to Expect?

Our favorite monarch’s plans are unknown at this time, but because of the cliffhanger that ended season 2, we have some clues as to what we might expect in season 3. It was a thrilling conclusion to the second season, which had lots of bloodshed, tears, and conflicted interpersonal relationships. Catherine’s diplomatic solutions led her to assassinate the Sultan of the Ottoman Empire and put her under severe pressure to kill her dethroned husband, Peter, in a spectacular conclusion.

In the ongoing war for the throne, Peter was in a precarious position of his own. Choosing between his life and his heart, the imprisoned monarch had to decide as close friends urged him to kill Catherine to live a tranquil life. So it appears that the husband-and-wife team is embroiled in yet another civil battle. Now that they’ve both invested feelings and affection in one another, it’s all getting pretty hot, right?

Towards the end of season 2, Catherine decided to put an end to Peter’s authority by stabbing him in the back while sobbing. In reality, she killed a lookalike rather than her spouse (oops). Both of them were left in the unpleasant predicament of realizing that, despite their feelings for each other, they both wanted to murder each other as well.

A solution for both of them to live in will be the focus of Season 3, with Peter continuing to show he has changed and is a guy who cares about his wife and son Paul. Instead of the power-crazed creature that nearly drowned Catharine in Season 1.

“We conclude the [second] season with everyone in a very, very different position,” said series creator Tony McNamara, when asked about the show’s future trajectory. The third season is all about the court and Catherine and Peter deciding what kind of guy he’s going to be,” he writes in the New York Times.

There is a good chance that we shall learn more about Marial’s character along with Peter and Catherine’s shortly. In response to Marial’s revelation that Peter had an affair with Catherine’s mother, Joanna, the Queen imprisoned her. Now that Catherine has made it clear that she loves Peter, how will the two of them reconcile? I don’t know yet.

With Catherine’s escalating conflict with the Sultan, the Archbishop of Archie, who tends to dissipation, is still fighting to find his faith. To summarise, The Great season 3 has a tonne of material, juicy drama, and tension to get through; in fact, it appears that each of the show’s ten episodes will be crammed to the gills.

Regardless of the new season’s premise, we know that Catherine’s tale will not be over just yet. Executive producer Marian Macgowan told Decider in 2020 that there are at least three more seasons to come after this one. She explains, “We originally pitched six seasons.” Since there’s enough stuff to last us through till Catherine is an old lady, we’re certain.

The Great Season 3 Cast: Who Will Be In?

No one will be surprised to learn that the entire royal court is returning for The Great season 3. Elle Fanning and Nicholas Hoult will reprise their roles as Queen Catherine and Peter, respectively, in the upcoming season of Game of Thrones. Since most of the couple’s closest confidants and advisors are still alive and un-exiled, they’ll all be making a comeback in the new season.

The following actors are rumored to be returning for the third season of The Great:

  • Elle Fanning (Catherine the Great)
  • Nicholas Hoult (Peter II of Russia)
  • Phoebe Fox (as Marial)
  • Sacha Dhawan (as Count Orlo)
  • Belinda Bromilow (as Aunt Elizabeth)
  • Adam Godley (as Archie)
  • Gwilym Lee (as Grigor)
  • Charity Wakefield (as Georgina)
  • Douglas Hodge (as General Velementov)
  • Bayo Gbadamosi (as Arkady)
  • Florence Keith-Roach (as Tatyana)

At some point, Catherine will probably consult with Voltaire (Darius Demri-Burns), who we’ve seen before in the role of the French philosopher. Catharine’s husband, Peter, is still struggling with letting go of his claim to the throne and becoming a better person, therefore Jason Isaacs might appear as the spirit of Peter’s father, Peter the Great.

The Great Season 3 Release Date: When Will It Come Out?

The good news is that a third season of The Great has been confirmed. Hulu started in January 2022, during Disney’s Television Critics Association winter press conference, that the series had been renewed and that the upcoming season would consist of 10 episodes, Huzzah! It’s bad news that no release date or filming plan has been set in stone just yet for this project.

Season 1 of The Great premiered on May 15, 2020, and season 2 was delayed until November 19, 2021, due to the Covid-19 epidemic. Because lockdowns are no longer in place, the time between seasons 2 and 3 will likely be shorter (fingers crossed).

Assuming that the epidemic won’t cause any major delays, The Great season 3 will arrive in 2023 or late 2022 at the earliest, assuming a realistic production schedule is followed. We’ll be sure to let you know as soon as we find out more information.

The Great Season 3 Trailer: Is There Any Teaser Available?

Unfortunately for Catherine’s admirers, there isn’t a season 3 trailer for The Great yet. Because production hasn’t begun and there isn’t any video for a season trailer, I’m afraid we are still in the dark about this.

The next teaser for the Emmy-nominated show will be released shortly, and we’ll be sure to let you know when it does.

Where to watch The Great Season 3?

Season 3 of The Great is slated to premiere on the Hulu streaming service in the United States, as has been the case for previous seasons. Season 3 of The Great will be available to UK fans via Starzplay, which can be viewed through Prime Video.
