Joanna has participated in Muay Thai for ten years and has a record of 70 wins, six world titles, and four European championships to her credit.
In addition, she has a professional kickboxing record of 27 wins and 2 losses and an amateur record of 37 wins and 3 losses in the sport.
May 19, 2012, was Joanna’s mixed martial arts MMA debut. As a result, in July of that year, she agreed to terms with the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). On the 26th of July, 2014, she played her first game against a professional opponent.

Joanna’s five-fight winning streak earned her a deal with the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). On July 26, 2014, at UFC on Fox: Lawler vs Brown, Joanna fought Juliana Lima. The Pole has won yet another decision by a margin of one vote.

To defend her women’s strawweight title, Joanna faced Carla Esparza (the current women’s strawweight champion) after her victory over Claudia Gadelha. A TKO victory won her the title of champion.
At UFC 217, she faced Rose Namajunas, who had previously defended her title five times. Joanna Namajunas was knocked out in the first round by Namajunas, who also took the championship away from the Pole.
Joanna suffered a unanimous decision loss against Namajunas in their rematch for the title. It was then on to face Valentina Shevchenko, who she defeated before facing Tecia Torres for the flyweight title. Joanna was beaten by a unanimous decision in their battle.
In March 2020, Zhang Weili and Michelle Waterson will square off in a jaw-dropping rematch at UFC 248.
